Intelligent M&A for Technology Companies

About Us

We formed Golding Partners in 2014 as a new kind of strategic adviser for technology companies. We begin every engagement with a fresh, unbiased perspective, listening carefully to understand our clients’ ultimate strategic objectives. We have no standard “sell-side process” or any other template or cookie cutter approach. We are hands-on senior professionals who do our own spreadsheets rather than rely on junior analysts learning on the job. The term that comes to mind is bespoke, but we are not British tailors. Instead we describe our approach to technology M&A as intelligent, by design.

Our Founder

Our founder Rex Golding has over 30 years of experience in Silicon Valley as a technology banker, venture capitalist, and finance executive. He has personally completed over 100 transactions worth more than $50 billion. While those are impressive-sounding numbers, more important are the cumulative experience, judgment and connections that Rex applies to his current engagements.

Highlights of Rex’s career include: Morgan Stanley, Co-head of Global Technology Banking Group (1996-1999); Softbank Venture Capital (Mobius), Managing Director (1999-2008); and The 3DO Company (Electronic Arts spin-out), Co-founder and CFO (1991-1994). Immediately prior to founding Golding Partners, Rex was a Senior Managing Director at Arma Partners, Europe’s leading M&A advisor for technology companies, where he helped Arma expand its US business and remains a Senior Advisor. Rex holds an MBA with Distinction from the Harvard Business School and an A.B. cum laude in Applied Mathematics from Harvard College. Rex also attended the California Institute of Technology (applied mathematics) and did graduate work at the George Washington University (energy and environmental policy). For Rex’s detailed biography please see his LinkedIn profile.

Notable Transactions

We are not a deal factory. In keeping with our customized, hands-on approach we work with a maximum of three clients at a time. We work solely on the sell-side, representing clients seeking a strategic partnership or to be acquired.

Working With Us

As a small firm we work exclusively on a referral basis, sourcing deals within the venture capital community. As senior advisers we work directly with the CEOs and CFOs of our client companies. Most of our clients are based in Silicon Valley, which best suits the intensive, hands-on approach we take with our engagements. If you believe that Golding Partners can help you, please contact us at info@goldingpartners.com.
